Fridges and Freezers
Fridge and Freezer Brands
Kambo’s sells fridges and freezers from reputable brands that have been household names for many years. All our fridges and freezers are of the highest quality.
Of course, there are some differences in the way the brands plan, manufacture and finish their fridges and freezers. But this is more a matter of preference and taste than of quality.
We've included them in this buying guide to help ensure you get exactly the product you're after. Some things to note:
- Samsung side-by-side fridges have a twin cooling system: one fan for the fridge and one fan for the freezer. This means more efficient cooling.
- Electrolux, Liebher and Fisher & Paykel feature fully flat door models, which are designed specifically for modern kitchen appeal.
Other things to consider when buying all types of fridges or freezers:
Lighting: Some refrigerators / freezers have interior lighting right down the back panel. This lights all the shelves more effectively than a light in the roof.
Cleaning: If you're considering a stainless steel model, you should consider how easy it will be to clean. Some models offer special cleaning methods to make cleaning the stainless steel easier.
Door opening direction: With some top and bottom refrigerators / freezers, you can choose which way the door opens. Convertible models allow you or your installer to switch the door from one side to the other. Others need to be ordered specifically (e.g. "I want the door to swing to the left"). Some brands charge extra for a conversion kit, so make sure you consider this before buying.
Twist ice servers: The ice tray of many freezers and bar refrigerators is now a single unit, with an ice block tray above the storage box. You empty the ice into the box simply by turning the tray upside down, which loosens the ice blocks then empties them into the storage box.
Air deodorisers: Some fridges and freezers now feature deodorisers, which absorb unpleasant odours using an active carbon filter.
Ventilation: Fridges and freezers produce quite a bit of heat, and this heat needs to go somewhere or they may overheat. If you squeeze your fridge or freezer into a space that's too small, the heat will have nowhere to go, because there'll be no space at the back, top and sides to allow it to escape. The amount of ventilation space required for a fridge or freezer varies depending on the model and the manufacturer, but 3cm either side and 5cm at the top and back is a good rule of thumb.
Silver Nano and Bioshield: Agents within the fridge which have an overall anti-bacterial and anti-fungal effect.
